How To Make Uphuthu at Home
Making upholtho at home doesn’t have to be difficult – here’s how:
1) Start by mixing one cup of maize meal with two cups of lukewarm water until you get a thick paste-like consistency (you may need to add more water if necessary).
2) Next, add an equal amount of buttermilk into the paste mixture stirring continuously until all ingredients are combined properly — this should take about 5 minutes or so. 3) Heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat before adding your paste mixture into the pan — cook for around 10 minutes stirring occasionally until golden brown in color then set aside to cool down slightly before serving either warm or chilled according to preference!
