Overview
Wrede Stad is a South African drama series which has become a cult classic among many South Africans. It tells the story of two brothers, Flip and Paul, who move to Johannesburg after their parents’ death in order to start new lives. The series follows them as they struggle to make ends meet while encountering various obstacles along the way. As such, it has been widely praised for its realistic portrayal of life in modern day Johannesburg. But how many episodes are there in total?
Season One
The first season consists of 13 episodes and aired between 2015 and 2016 on SABC1. It follows the brothers as they attempt to find employment in Johannesburg whilst also trying to survive on a limited budget. They soon encounter various challenges including corruption, gang violence and drug addiction which ultimately lead them down different paths that threaten their brotherly bond.
Season Two
The second season was released in 2017 with another 13 episodes being made available for viewing on YouTube by show creators Moonyeenn Lee and Marius van Heerden. This time around the focus is shifted towards Flip’s journey towards self-discovery as he attempts to pursue his dream career within the music industry despite facing numerous obstacles along the way such as financial difficulties and personal struggles with identity issues due to his mixed race heritage (his father was white). His brother Paul also continues his own journey outside of Wrede Stad but still finds himself drawn back into its dangerous environment when he least expects it prompting him once again take charge of their shared destiny together .
